Starting with the title number—you’ll take an expedition to the land of the pharaohs in search of that mysterious Mummy by the name of Shirley! This “Bagstravaganza” has everything: a Mummy, a camel, a desert, crooks, a treasure map, a tomb—and you! You become the extras in our “movie.” You get to be a crowd at an airport, a flock of birds and even the voice of a Pharaoh’s curse, all from your seats! So . . . . get ready for your close-up!
There is The Lady and The Storm a story that unfolds on a large paper easel with ink and paint. A lady-like lady’s peaceful day is disrupted by a violent storm. Luckily, a kind stranger rescues her. Before nightfall, the Lady once again is at peace in a quiet world. In the mystery of Amy’s Chicken the audience investigates the disappearance of Amy’s pet chicken and Ted’s missing lunchbox—that the chicken is over 8 foot tall, cardboard and painted bright yellow only adds to the mystery and the fun!
Ted as Winter and Kevin as The Wind in
“When Winter Stayed Too Long”
A weary postman his daily delivery done takes a nap. He dreams of butterflies. He dreams he is a butterfly. He delivers the mail with wings of long, colorful tissue paper. A Paper Bag Players classic re-imagined for this year’s show. The seasons get the Paper Bag treatment in When Winter Stayed Too Long. Winter won’t leave. The sun gives battle but the earth remains cold. It is only a wily and warm tropical breeze that finally sends winter packing making way for spring.
THE PAPER BAG PLAYERS GREAT MUMMY ADVENTURE builds to a climax with Ants in My Pants. Ted, Laura, Kevin, Amy and John are having a picnic—but then the ants arrive! A song, a dance and lots of shaking, jumping and twisting, done faster and faster, is required to get rid of those ants. From picnic to dance-a-thon and the whole audience joins in!
Getting everyone ready for the paint-flying musical finale Prints. Kevin enters and begins “hand painting” (no brushes allowed) on the easel. His color-filled touch starts the music. One by one the other Players join in adding their rhythm and color. The music, the beat, the color, the painting of a meadow, the sky, the sun, and the rain reach a crescendo with a visual-musical rainbow!
THE PAPER BAG PLAYERS GREAT MUMMY ADVENTURE is perfect for children ages 4 through 9, perfect for everyone. It’s a funny, friendly, thrilling hour of theater from The Paper Bag Players, over 50 years old and absolutely brand new!
